The ThreatS

  • The United States faces an authoritarian crisis. The current President has unlawfully deployed federalized National Guard, active service military and secret police into American cities.
  • Deployments in Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago, Memphis and Portland (both OR & ME) used false claims of civil disorder, threats to Federal buildings and personnel, and crime rates as justification.
  • Militarized DHS agents have brutally killed Minneapolis citizens, recklessly shot others across the U.S., allowed detainees to die in custody, committed massive civil rights violations, and unlawfully deported veterans.
  • Seattle and other cities have been threatened, signaling preparation for martial law, the Insurrection Act and control of the 2026 and 2028 elections.

At every turn, veterans have been dishonored by this government. It has discarded their oath to the Constitution and damaged their medical care. Neither veterans, nor the civilians who honor them, will suffer this any more.

How did UVCR begin?

A few veterans with bullhorns, signs, and leaflets confronted federalized National Guard in D.C., L.A. and Chicago with powerful messages that respected the troops – but not their illegal orders.

The Seattle chapter of Veterans For Peace, a national progressive veteran organization, joined Seattle Indivisible as a partner in UVCR. Other veterans joined UVCR – and civilians are making a critical difference.

The UVCR campaign is designed to support veterans with organized volunteers and resources, using daily response and non-violent tactics that increase the power of their message.

Now what?

UVCR prepares its members and the public for non-violent action before any military and DHS occupation in Seattle. UVCR has veterans’ backs with reliable resources and skills. Other U.S. cities are seeing what UVCR is doing in Seattle.
