UVCR’s work is done by coordinated teams that support de-escalation, public safety, logistics, communications and community engagement. Veterans and civilians can participate in different ways depending on skills, experience and availability.

Below is an overview of UVCR teams. Specific trainings and coordination are continuously provided to volunteers .

De-escalation & Safety

Actions: Street level de-escalation and crowd safety

Preferred Experience: Prior training, but UVCR open to new trainees

Street Comms & Graphics

Actions: Street messaging, signs, banners, flyers, light projection

Preferred Experience: Veterans; editors; graphic arts; bannering; signs; digital light projection

Field Feeding

Actions: Street food & water 

Preferred Experience: Food sourcing; transport

Finance

Actions: Equipment/materials funding

Preferred Experience: Budgeting; bookkeeping

Medical/Mental Health

Actions: Street level first aid; mental health

Preferred Experience: Nursing; MA; MD; Social Workers; Street medics

Recruitment

Actions: Recruit/organize street teams

Preferred Experience: Recruiting; vetting; organizing

Research

Actions: Prepare specified research reports

Social Media & Press

Actions: Manage platform accounts; press relations; contribute video/stills content
